IGIV Therapies
Immune Globulin for Intravenous Infusion (IGIV) is a natural antibody derived from pooled plasma. It contains the immunoglobulins to protect against infectious agents that cause various diseases. IGIV is used to treat immunosuppressed and neurological conditions. IGIV is also used to reduce the risk of infection in individuals with poorly functioning immune systems such as those with HIV infection, hereditary immunodeficiency syndromes, and Chronic lymphocytic leukemia. It is also used following bone marrow transplants. IGIV may also be used to increase platelet counts in individuals with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, and to prevent the weakening of the main artery of the heart (coronary artery aneurysms) that is associated with Kawasaki syndrome. Medex BioCare inventories all available brands of IGIV therapy.
